Here are some pictures taken at the site while I'm fooling around with those working contractor guys. They are helpful since as long as I'm working with the consortium... Hehe.. Had a great experience watching how do workers work especially seeing how the China's Chinese contractors working around inside the construction area with harsh environment, working at heights without wearing harnesses, walking through narrow wood going inside and how efficient they worked without overtime (I think so..)
Its quite hard to live here if you don't have any transportation. The canteen at my residential area is not yet under operation, well they (the sub-contractor) said it will started by the end of this month (Aug) and some said at the mid of next month. Arrggg... Now, we have to drive down the off-road hill (not very nice to travel), 10 minutes to reach the Bakun Resort which they has a restaurant for breakfasts, lunches and dinners. And have to travel back up hill with a full stomach with sausages, rice, eggs and orange juice. You can imagine how they managed the restaurant if they monopolized the food there. The beef burger with cheese, fish-and-chips only things that I "qualified" to eat. Managed by the client (Sarawak Hidro Sdn Bhd) which sub-con to Malaysia China Hydro Joint Venture Bhd. Hmm... I'm doubtful how the cook.. As for myself, I've made an enquiry online to the Federal Islamic Department about their HALAL status of those restaurant. Other hawkers? Well, its looked doubtful too... Well, Azommi, the surveyor guy, together with his wife, also working with the same company, took an alternative to cook inside the room. What a happy couple they are!
I met Mubasher, a Muslim Indian representing Alstom draft tube supervisor, who is now working alone, currently one-man project at the site. Very friendly guy and hyper. Always smiles. His story was, he missed his marriage after the company sent him here. Pitty him. I remembered he told that he have been here for more than a year now. Well, he looks happy. No comment about that. Hmmm.. what about me? Less than a month... Huhuhuuu..
I missed all my friends wedding, An, Russdy and Farid Bala (had an accident here). Sorry about that guys.
Hey... If you guyz can help us or give some ideas to put up a "Real Peninsular Flavor" hawkers here? Its about 3 to 4 hours driving by 4x4 from Bintulu town. Its better if you have to travel at one shot. Well, hehe. Make sure your vehicle comsume diesel where its cheap here. Still alot of land spaces here to put up your stalls.
OK... i think thats all for now.. It will be continue... Insya Allah
